sneak peek.

Where I live it has been a tradition to remove the grass in some of the meridians and in its place to plant marigolds, the city's official flower. Although we use the metric system in Canada the long rows of orange flowers has been dubbed the Marigold Mile.

As I was working on this pattern and watching the colours emerge to form a pretty swirling design it reminded me of our meridians, jam packed with orange coloured blossoms, and I knew that "Marigold Mile" would be the perfect name!

The yarn that I chose for this project is Blue Heron Bamboo Lace which is comprised of 100% bamboo. This translates into a soft fabric with a hint of sheen and amazing drape, so this super versatile scarf/shawl hangs perfectly no matter how you wear it. Plus the properties of bamboo will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

I just have to finish up a chart for the edging and then the pattern will be coming your way!

cow baby slip-ons.

I was just searching through our etsy archives when I stumbled across this picture of some Felted Baby Slip-ons that I had made way back in 2009, and I just had to share.

Aren't they super sweet? They make me smile! I remember that I couldn't get the spots right so I had to get my daughter, whose very artistic, to needle felt them on for me. I have some baby showers coming up and finding this picture has inspired me want to make up another pair.

This great little pattern for the "Felted Baby Slip-ons" is designed by my friend and business partner, Tara Schreyer. They are quick and easy to work up, and once they are felted they make an excellent blank canvas to embellish or needle felt anyway that your heart desires.

vogue knitting 2013 crochet issue - interview with lee ann dalton.

To say that we were thrilled when writer Lee Ann Dalton contacted us, and asked us if we would like to be interviewed for the Vogue Knitting 2013 Crochet Issue, would be an understatement! We didn't feel like we had anything Vogue worthy to talk about, but Lee Ann was fabulous to work with and she put together a lovely article that we will always treasure....good memories....

The Vogue Knitting Special Collectors Crochet Issue hit the newsstands yesterday, so to read the article and, most importantly, to add lots of amazing patterns to your collection be sure to buy your copy soon! They went super fast last year and Tara's still kicking herself for not buying a hard copy of the 2012 edition.

Look for this issue on newsstands or visit Vogue Knitting to learn more about ordering online and instant downloads from iTunes.
