how to crochet in the back or front loops only.

Normally, when you are crocheting you insert your crochet hook through both top loops as shown...

...but sometimes you will be directed to work into the front or the back loops only. It is important to follow these instructions as it will greatly change the look of your project.

To work in the front loop only you insert your hook through the front loop (as shown below), leaving the back loop unworked.

To work in the back loop only you insert your work through the back loop leaving the front loop unworked.

This technique will produce a ridge or a horizontal line across your work and it is often used to create a ribbed effect.

photo gallery.

We are always thrilled to hear from our customers!  We love to see how our crochet designs have inspired them to create something wonderful for themselves or someone that they love. We recently heard from Angela, who shared such beautiful photos of her finished projects that we just had to share the gorgeousness with you.  She used the crochet pattern "Hanging Storage Pouch" and she did two different versions of it.

The first one is made up of a very thick wool. So thick, in fact, that she mentioned that it could even serve as a freestanding basket if she were to omit the hanging piece.  I love that idea!

The second one she made up using a finer cotton blend and it is equally as beautiful!!  You can visit Angela's blog for more great photos of these pouches and be sure to check out all the beautiful items that she has in her shop "Simple Things Small Joys". A shop full of eye candy to make your space dreamy!!!

just for laughs...you know that you've been crocheting too much when...

You own a crochet hook that lights up in the dark.

You have to wear a wrist protector when you crochet.

You take your crocheting to the theater.

You think that Afghan is the name of a country.

You consider crocheting "fast" to be a form of exercise.

You plan your family vacation around yarn and crochet events.

You have 7 or 8 crochet projects on the go at once.
